Create captions from speech, then correct the text and timing.

Before generating
Play the project and confirm that speech is audible. The current automatic-caption model is English; do not expect reliable transcription of other languages.
Generate captions
Open Caption and use the generation control. First use downloads the speech library and model, requiring internet access and extra time. Recognition then runs on the computer rather than uploading the recording for transcription.
Review every caption
Correct names, punctuation, and technical terms. Adjust timing to follow the speech. Automatic results can omit words or produce text that was not spoken, especially with noise or music.
Subtitle files
Use the SRT controls when you already have subtitles or need a separate subtitle file. Check timing against the edited timeline after cutting or rearranging clips.
If it fails
Check the connection during model download, verify audible speech, and test a short clip. Cached model files do not guarantee that every dependency is available offline. Save the project and report the exact error if the problem continues.
